Community
We endeavour to make a positive difference in the wider community, particularly by endorsing emerging artists, youth initiatives and community projects, and by supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. As part of your clerkship program, you help us give back through a volunteering session with one of our associated charities. Previous clerks have helped to train seeing-eye dogs, regenerate disused community spaces and teach underprivileged children to read, among other service activities.
All employees are encouraged to get involved with community engagement and charitable events. Our lawyers use their knowledge and skills to assist those who may not otherwise be able to access or afford legal services. We see our pro bono legal work as an important way of providing equitable access to justice and supporting sustainability in communities.
Activities
Fun is also on the agenda during your clerkship. Dentons strongly endorses a healthy work/life balance from the get-go. Our belief is that a lively workplace reduces stress, improves learning and increases productivity and creativity.
That’s why we offer a lively social calendar year-round, with events ranging from intramural sports to cruises. Whatever recreation you prefer, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to get to know your fellow clerks both at Dentons and other firms.
Our fantastic employee benefits program also offers many initiatives to help you keep your work and life balanced—complimentary massages, discounted corporate health insurance, discounted gym memberships, retail concessions and more.
We encourage you to join one (or more!) of our many sports teams, participate in group activities (ranging from yoga to boot camp to boxing) and be part of our corporate teams for events such as the City2Surf and JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge. Additionally, our social committee arranges a number of creative and interactive events throughout the year that all staff are welcome to attend.
Conservation
We are also striving for a greener Dentons. To reduce our carbon footprint, we are continuously looking for ways to maximise the efficient use of energy, water and other resources, and to minimise pollution and waste. Our ‘Naked Office’ initiative has already significantly reduced paper usage per employee and increased our recycling practices.
