Your career

Our worldwide reputation is built on the expertise of our lawyers, who are specialists in many different areas of the law. If you’re ambitious enough to join them, we’ll help you build a career that is everything you want it to be.

It won’t be easy, but it will be rewarding. Our career framework will give you the structure you need to climb as high as you wish to go. We’ll also give you all the tools and guidance you need to realise your potential. The rest is up to you and what you can bring to the Firm.

Support and development

We see our trainees as the future of our Firm, which is why we’ll put many resources into your development. But it isn’t just about learning the law. Dealing with clients and colleagues is also part of what you’ll learn. You’ll receive daily support from your supervisor, trainee representatives and our Human Resources department. In each of our practices, a partner will also hold responsibility for overseeing your training and mentoring you while you progress.

To ensure you stay on the right track, you’ll also get frequent feedback – informally on a day-to-day basis, in a mid-seat review at the three-month stage and through a formal appraisal at the end of each seat. This means that you can learn as you go rather than only hear feedback retrospectively; something which we know would be frustrating for you.

Career progression

If you’re reading this then we know you want to progress your career and Dentons is certainly a place that can help take you where you want to go. Our career framework is designed to identify  and reward talent and crucially, it will enable and encourage you to progress at a pace that suits you.

That means your training won’t end once you qualify. Far from it. You’ll continue to hone your legal skills and knowledge at weekly seminars and workshops. These carefully designed sessions aim to help you develop and support your legal knowledge within the particular area of law that you qualify in. It will ensure that you keep learning and developing your career as you proceed into it.
